Endless converstations over the years and different political regimen’s mean changing emphasis on who wants what. I appreaciate that District 1 Commissioner, Jimmy Weekley, held a public meeting last month and District 6 Commissioner, Clayton Lopez, is held one on the 8th. What are we to say? What do you think needs to be done in terms of development? All I know is that it is a special gift given to our community. We should proceed as carefully as possible and be sure that we protect out resources. I cannot see why we would want to develop s super yacht basin. They are huge energy users in adidtion to water & waste issues. What do they bring to the island? Certainly not numbers of visitors, they do not add to lodging or on shore dining. If a marinia is desireable, why not consider a sailing marina accomodating samller boats, more energy efficient and more on shore participation? Whatever we do, it ought to be in keeping with the historic character of old town and definitely as “green” as we can make it. Love to hear your thoughts.
